Mickey Blizzard

1970's Ohio Rock - Welcome!

Mickey Blizzard was a popular rock group in the early 1970's. The band's genre was pop/rock with musical selections as diverse as Linda Ronstadt, the Beatles, Yes, Chicago, Queen, and Chaka Khan. Members were Charlie and Peggy Read, Mike Smith, and the Atkinson brothers Doug, Rick, and Gil.

The group was a favorite at Cincinnati clubs such as Alexander's and Columbus' Castle, but also played many high schools and colleges from Michigan to New York.

The trademark of the band was strong female lead vocalist Peggy Read, and strong supporting harmonies from the other musicians.  Charlie and Mike were both accomplished lead guitarists and often traded solos or utilized harmony leads, in the style of Wishbone Ash.
